From Dinner Plate to Platform
Fueling When Holiday Dishes Start Calling
The holidays are here! 'Tis the season for time with family, friends, co-workers, and lots of tasty treats. No one should deprive themselves of quality time and food during the holidays, but how can we maintain a healthy balance between the snack plate and the workout platform?
Here are some tips!
Keep your regular meal schedule.
Don’t skip meals anticipating a big holiday meal or event later in the day. You’ll show up with a lower blood sugar and a greater drive to eat a lot quickly.
Start with fiber-rich foods at a party.
Going to a party? Start with the raw veggie trays first - and limit the dips. You’ll fill up faster on fiber-rich foods, leaving less room for treats.
Eat slowly
It takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to signal your brain that you’re full. Take your time eating and savor those goodies. You’ll end up eating less.
Watch the drinkees
Limit sugary drinks. If you have an alcoholic beverage, follow it up with a glass of water.
Keep active
Stick to your workout routine. You’ll feel better physically and emotionally, and it will help you deal with any holiday stress.
In Conclusion, Don’t Stress!
So, enjoy your holidays, and stop by PFP for a class or training session to reframe your body and mind! We look forward to seeing you.
