BLOG GRAPHIC: HOW DOES SEMI-PRIVATE TRAINING WORK?

You may have heard recently at PFP that we are rolling out Semi Private Training (SPT) starting in October 2026. This is a new addition to our personal training option here at the gym that offers a slightly different feel to our normal personal training environment. Some questions you might have will be, who is this style of training for? How does the timing and planning work? How can I fit it into my schedule? Let’s get you up to date with it and how it can serve you as a member.

Remind Me What SPT Is Again…

I’ll do a quick refresher of what SPT is and then we can dive into the details. SPT is an alternate form of personal training where groups of 2-4 individuals can train with a coach simultaneously. Although, unlike our small groups where everyone is doing the exact same program, SPT allows for each person to have an individualized program while they are working out together. This allows for each person to have individual goals in their program but still have a group setting if they would like to.

Who Is This Style of Training For?

SPT is for individuals who are a little more comfortable and more seasoned in a gym setting. This may be someone who has worked out in a gym for a few years or who has worked with a trainer for a similar amount of time. These individuals are typically more comfortable with cues from coaches and may only need brief descriptions on technique and exercise selection. You can also be someone who needs the external accountability of having a set training time throughout the week. This offer extends to individuals who also do our group classes at PFP. If you do method class a few times a week but want a little more focused work on some type of movement or style of training then this will also work well for you. You can easily blend SPT with method class.

How Will the Schedule Work?

Scheduling for SPT will function in two main formats. There will be preset session times where a singular coach will be available and a member can book and workout during that time slot. For example, there may be a session on Monday from 7-7:45am, as a member on a SPT contract you may join that session at that time and workout with whichever coach is scheduled at that time. As a member your main trainer or coach makes a program for you ahead of time and both you and the scheduled coach during that SPT session have access and can see your program.

The other format would be a predetermined scheduled time with a coach. This would work similarly to how partner training sessions have worked up until this point. A scheduled SPT session can also have up to 2-4 individuals but at any time you and the coach decide on.

Other Features of SPT

When you as a customer purchase a SPT contract it will automatically come with a group membership. We wanted to make this available for members to get more training time at the gym. Making more time available for you as a member to go to the gym will help you increase your fitness level and help accomplish the goals you’ve set for yourself.

For more information and help with SPT training you can book a fitness eval with one of our coaches today!
