We are officially well into summer, and Jason has been seeing more people out on the trails and in the parks. He wants to remind you that there are things we should do before and after an outside activity!

Drink Water

Drinking water the night before will help you to be hydrated during the activity. You should also drink water during your activity, so as not to dehydrate during it. Staying hydrated is key to keeping your muscles and other tissues moving the way they should.

Stretches

Doing some basic stretches can help you be ready for your planned activity, so you can lessen the chance of injury. You can ask just about anyone who works at the gym for some stretches. There are also many yoga instructors on YouTube that could give you an idea of some stretches that you can do. You can also ask Jason, who has a stretching book that is detailed for different activities.

After Exercises Soreness

If you are doing an activity that involves moving in such a way that you are not used to, you might get some muscle soreness that can last a few days. If you suspect that you might have actually injured yourself, please see your doctor before getting a massage or continuing the activity.

Get A Massage

Getting a massage can help you prepare for and recover from your summer time outside activities. Before activity, massage can help loosen up your muscles and tissues before you get outside and do what you enjoy. Massage can help minimize soreness after an activity and even shorten the time you feel it.

Summer doesn’t last forever, and booking your massage today will help keep you active for the rest of the summer. You can book your massage online at the Pittsburgh Fitness Project website.
