PFP PHYSICAL

LITERACY

CHECK OUT THE CLASS!

The style of our class will have both parent and child engaged in all activities. We will begin with a general group warm-up, moving around and getting our creativity flowing. Next, we will practice a new skill, and parents get to flex their coach brain as they try to assist their child in understanding each one! Finally, we will play a game that encourages the kids to execute the skills they just practiced with confidence and have fun doing so!

Our physical literacy classes will be starting in February. If you have young kids and want to be involved with ensuring they are physically literate, check out our classes in the class schedule below. It is a great way to foster a positive relationship with physical activity for you and your family!

A family workout session in a gym with a woman, a man, and a young girl. The woman is standing on a green mat, the girl is smiling and waving, and the man is holding weights. The gym is equipped with green and black fitness gear, weights, and ropes.

OUR CLASS GOALS

  • PROPRIOCEPTION & COORDINATION

    PROPRIOCEPTION & COORDINATION

Sometimes we overlook spatial awareness as a skill we can learn and improve on. Our awareness of our body and space around it can be tested by getting dizzy, throwing, or kicking!

  • BALANCE

    BALANCE

Balance is something everyone talks about losing, but how do we find it? We will allow kids to practice tandem walking, using a balance beam, and listening to their bodies and eyes to find their balance.

  • STRENGTH & MOBILITY

    STRENGTH & MOBILITY

As skills, strength, and mobility are important for being resilient to all sorts of injuries. We will introduce lifting objects from the floor, carrying them, and finding our full ranges of strength!

  • SPEED & AGILITY

    SPEED & AGILITY

Being speedy and agile is often something people shy away from if they aren’t an elite athlete, but learning these skills can be very simple. We will work on changing directions, taking off into a sprint, and jumping.

A woman and a young girl are in a gym, exercising with two trainers. The trainers and girl are smiling and gesturing towards fitness equipment, including a pink ball held by a trainer, a yellow stability ring, and a weightlifting bar. The gym has green and black weight racks, a television screen displaying an exercise program, and various fitness gear in the background.

It is never too young to start weightlifting. At PFP, we teach your child proper form to keep them healthy as they grow!
