PFP Trainer Spotlight: Marisa Galli

Get to know our PFP trainers! This week, we're featuring both PFP trainer and Athlete, Marisa Galli, B.S. Exercise Science.

Hi everyone, my name is Marisa and I am a trainer, instructor, and coach at PFP!  I work one on one with clients, teach group exercise classes, and coach weightlifting for our barbell club athletes.  My training method focuses on moving from basics to the barbell.  I remember how exciting it was for me to learn how to lift and to build strength, so I always love working with beginners and sharing that experience with them as well.

My Intro to Fitness

I first got into fitness during high school; initially, I was on the track and field team. I did sprints, relays, and hurdles, but I really fell in love with the weight room instead.  From there, I continued strength training during college. And I interned at many different places from collegiate strength and conditioning to cardiac rehab.  I began weightlifting competitively last November and now it’s one of my favorite things to do and to coach!  I love seeing members progress with form and strength, and watching them finally have that moment where it all comes together and pays off!

What Her Clients Say

Marisa has been an awesome addition to the staff at PFP. She stepped into teaching classes right about the time I needed a new trainer.  Marisa’s style is open and friendly but serious about her business. She is genuinely interested in helping me progress. She will modify an exercise to meet my needs if necessary, but she’ll also give me a push to challenge myself if she thinks I can handle it.

Her instructions are easy to follow so I don’t waste valuable workout time trying to figure out how to do an exercise correctly, and she’s always adding new twists to keep the class interesting.  She is encouraging without being too loud and “in your face”.  If you are there to put in the work, she’ll do what she can to help you meet your goals.

Marisa’s got an upbeat, positive vibe to her that definitely makes a difference. I’m a little older and have some health challenges that slow my progress and sometimes I get frustrated. Marisa sets me straight by reminding me of what I accomplished that day.  She loves her job and it definitely shows! I can count on leaving her class sweaty, tired and feeling great! – Shani
